The development of epithermal gold and porphyry copper-style mineralisation within an intrusive centre: Acupan, Baguio district, Philippines.

Acupan is considered to be an intrusive centre as several igneous phases have been emplaced in the vicinity of the mine over the past 8 Ma. They include the Lucbuban gabbro, Virac granodiorite, Ampucao dacite porphyry (ADP), Hartwell plug, Itogon plug and the multi-phase Balatoc diatreme. These intrusives have high-K calc- alkaline affinities and are grouped together as the Virac Complex._x000D_
Porphyry-style mineralisation formed during the final crystallization of the ADP in the late Pliocene, with the deposition of two vein stages from high-temperature hypersaline magmatic-hydrothermal fluids. K-silicate alteration halos surround the first stage of veinlets (stage I); they are surrounded in turn by a propylitic assemblage._x000D_
White sericite and/or intense propylitic halos envelop the second stage of veinlets (stage II) and grade into a weak nrnnvlitir accPmht o
