An automatic control system of a longwall roof support is dis- cussed. Hydraulic automatic control systems for longwall roof support have not met all requirements for such systems. Utilization of standard hydraulic elements to form a system that would-comply with all demands leads to a very complicated structure with a large number of hydraulic hoses within and between adjacent supports. So, only simplified systems have been made. This paper describes the multifunctional valve that per- mits realization of any desired logic functions, while maintaining a com- pact form, and analyses its application as a fully hydraulic automatic control system of a roof support.
