Experiences with the Electric Overhead Trolley System at the CSA Mine, Cobar

New crushing and hoisting facilities for the mining of reserves in the lower section of the mine were recently installed at the CSA Mine, Cobar._x000D_
Investigation of the viability of an overhead trolley system to be used with electric vehicles was also undertaken as part of a general upgrading of the transport systems._x000D_
It was considered appropriate to incorporate the advantages of existing electric vehicles with the increased range of an overhead trolley system. Lack of suitable commercially available systems necessitated the design be undertaken by Cobar Mines Pty Ltd._x000D_
The initial attempt in 1985 was not totally successful with the major problem revolving around the use of a monorail to carry the moving trolley. Despite this setback the concept was pursued and revised with the second generation trolley system incorporating a double rail to provide increased support for the trolley._x000D_
The results of these changes will be incorporated into the future design of ore transportation systems at Cobar Mines including truck haulage, as well as LHD vehicles.
