AusIMM/IOM3 Metallurgy Webinar Series: Essington Lewis Memorial Lecture – Dr Steve Hill
When Australians stop to reflect it is inevitably raised that we are a “lucky country”.
Despite what that may mean and if it is true or not, the reflection often projects to whether this “luck” will continue or improve, particularly as we look towards current and future challenges and opportunities. For many of these, we are fortunate to have some choice in how we respond.
The “luck” that our future may hold therefore depends on making decisions towards trusted, informed responses and pro-active solutions … in other words how we can we choose to use our knowledge to work together to make us better.
This presentation will highlight the value and importance of science to how we make informed decisions in the face of change as well as future challenges and opportunities. It will explore the often overlooked value, engagement and impact of science that is built on trust, connection (to people and country) and a vision of what “good” looks like.
The intention is that as an audience member you will be inspired and reminded to bring your most informed, trusted and connected person (your “best person”) to our nation’s future.
