Geoscience Society - Geodynamics and Scale: Mineral Systems in Context

Join the AusIMM Geosciene Society online to disucss Geodynamics and Scale: Mineral Systems in Context, presented by Graham Begg.

Our understanding of the context for ore deposit formation has been transformed in the last 20 years by the emergence of new technologies. This has resulted in an emergent ability to map the lithosphere in 4 dimensions, and to couple this with an understanding of changes in associated geodynamic conditions.
Deposits are formed by Mineral Systems that generally operate at whole-lithosphere-scale. We can now identify a series of syndromes that create conditions fertile for productive Mineral Systems, as well as typical triggers for resultant ore-formation. The challenge for explorers is to identify the signals of these syndromes in the available data.
Join Graham to hear about In this talk I will cover global- to regional- scale factors associated with the generation of various deposit styles, including Ni-Cu-PGE sulphide, orogenic gold, and porphyry Cu.
