Mining Society - Webinar: Ground control management plans

Ground engineering is characterised by pervasive uncertainty, and uncertainty equates to risk. Work health and safety legislation in Australia recognises ground control as a principal hazard and, therefore, requires a specific management plan for controlling the risk that ground instability can present to health and safety in the workplace. However, the same plan is also very important for managing risk from other perspectives, particularly risk to business. The webinar will review what gives rise to risk in ground engineering and the vexing issue of competency qualifications in ground engineering that are important considerations when preparing ground control management plans and, based on learnings from some incidents, note critical aspects of risk assessment that underpin effective ground control management plans.
