The talk is aimed at members of the AusIMM who work in Mining and Minerals Processing and are curious about what happens to the ores they process and concentrates they produce on the road to converting to alloys.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the role played by raw materials in Pyrometallurgical processes. The perspective will be from the presenters experience in (iron and) steelmaking, manganese (and chromium) ferroalloy production, and ilmenite smelting in South Africa.
