Maureen is a Professor at The University of Queensland and Director of UQ’s Sustainable Minerals Institute Health and Safety Centre. From 2019 onwards. Maureen has been the Academic representative on the Board of Professional Engineers QLD.
Maureen provides risk management, system/process safety and human factors research, education and training direct and expert consultancy services to industry and to undergraduate, Masters and PhD students at the university. Prior to joining UQ, she worked for more than 15 years in mining, processing and manufacturing industries in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Maureen holds bachelor’s degrees in engineering and psychology, a MBA and PhD in human factors. She is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland and a Chartered Professional Engineer with EA and IChemE. Her passion is protecting and ensuring the prosperity of workers in high hazard in industries.
