Andrew Martin
Australia’s Ambassador to Chile and Ecuador
A career diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Martin was previously Deputy Secretary of the Indo-Pacific Economic and Supply Chain Division, leading negotiations on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF). Prior to that, he was Senior Adviser to the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment.
Mr Martin has held senior roles in Australia’s Free Trade Agreement negotiations with the United Kingdom, the European Union, Indonesia, the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru), the CPTPP and the United States.
He chaired the negotiations for the WTO Agreement on Environmental Goods and led the team that negotiated Australia’s accession to the WTO Agreement on Government Procurement. He helped establish the Australia-Latin America Relations Council in 2001. Mr Martin has previously worked in Geneva, Suva and Caracas.
