Juan Carlos Guajardo
Founder and Executive Director, Plusmining
A respected mining leader, Juan founded Plusmining in 2015 after he served as Executive Director of the Center for Copper and Mining Studies (CESCO), a think tank specialized in public policy on mining from 2006 to 2014.
Previously, he was Head of the Research Department at the Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco), the government’s advisory body on economic and mining affairs. Earlier in his career, Mr. Guajardo worked as an economist at the International Copper Study Group (ICSG), an intergovernmental organization based in Lisbon, Portugal.
Mr. Guajardo holds a Ph.D. in International Economics and Development from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. He earned a degree in Business Administration and holds the title of Commercial Engineer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. He also holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, and completed the International Advanced Program on Mining and the Environment at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden.
