Juan Larenas Matcovich is an Associate Director in Accenture's Industry practice, based in Santiago, Chile, where he leads technology services for the mining sector across Hispanic South America — covering Chile, Peru and supporting other regions around the world. He brings 18 years of experience at the intersection of copper mining operations and digital transformation, with a career that spans hands-on metallurgical engineering at some of the industry's most significant operations through to the design and implementation of AI-driven solutions for large-scale mining.

Through his operational background in copper industry — including leadership roles at BHP across processing, technical engineering and supply management — Juan developed deep expertise in process optimization and value chain integration. He also co-founded a mining-focused AI and advanced analytics company, scaling it from inception to a team of 44 specialists delivering proven solutions for copper mining industry.

In his current role at Accenture, Juan works closely with C-suite leaders across the copper and broader mining industry, supporting strategic priorities including operating models, AI adoption at scale, IT/OT integration, digital twin deployment and operational capability transformation. He combines firsthand operational credibility with a regional perspective on where the industry is advancing — and where it continues to stall.
