About the Tarkwa and Knust Scholarships

AusIMM is pleased to announce that applications for the award of two scholarships are now open. Each scholarship is worth AUD$750 towards educational costs at either the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa or the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.

Eligibility

Prospective applicants must satisfy the following eligibility requirements:

  • hold a current enrolment in the second or later year of a mining industry related degree course in the 2023/24 Academic Year.
  • be a current student member of the AusIMM. To join the AusIMM, please visit this page.
  • hold a minimum CWA of 55%
  • be able to demonstrate good writing and research skills.

Eligible applicants are invited to make written submissions of no more than 2000 words on a topic of personal choice within their enrolled field of study. This, together with evidence of the requisite CWA, should be emailed as a single pdf using the link in the banner below no later than Thursday 29 February 2024. Please note that late submissions will not be accepted, and that previous recipients of this award are ineligible to make a further submission.

2023 Scholarship winners

Congratulations to our 2023 winners Ebenezer Darkoh, who was awarded a scholarship for the paper titled: 'Advancement in Technology for Improved Mining Efficiency'and Korica Hawawu, who was awarded a scholarship for the paper titled: 'Corporate social Responsibilities of Mining Companies in Ghana.'
