QUT Faculty of Engineering Tour

Experience this exclusive behind the scenes tour.

The QUT Faculty of Engineering tour will be hosted by AusIMM's Southern Qld Student Chapter and key QUT Academic staff supported by engineering student clubs presidents and members, including Civil Engineering Student Society,  QUT Mechanical Engineering Student Society, QUT Robotics Club  and QUT GEMS.

Delegates will meet with Charminda Gallage, Associate Professor in Geotechnical Engineering.  Charminda is a geotechnical and pavement engineering expert.  His research is strongly supported by Transport and Main Roads, Brisbane City Council, Geofabrics Australasia, Global Synthetics and Geotechnical consultancies in Brisbane.  Charminda will share his recent research work including Real-time monitoring and wireless data transmission to predict rain-induced landslides in critical slopes; Investigating change in geotechnical properties of tailing dam materials (rock fill) due to slaking. 

Professor Cheng Yan is a material and mechanical engineering expert, his research is strongly supported by Australian Research Council (ARC) and local industry via ARC Linkage and CRC projects. Cheng will share his recent work including composites, materials for rechargeable batteries and structure-property relationship in metal welds.

Professor Graeme Millar will also join the tour to discuss the School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering latest research focus and technologies.
