Conference Proceedings
15th Australasian Tunnelling Conference 2014
The 15th Australasian Tunnelling Conference 2014 was held in Sydney, Australia, and was organised by the Australasian Tunnelling Society, with support from the AusIMM, Engineers Australia and IPENZ. The theme of the conference was underground space - solutions for the future, a pertinent reminder of the innovation that is an integral part of this industry. Included in this volume are just under eighty papers, covering almost all aspects of tunnel design and construction, with many discussing current projects in Australasia and some from overseas. Themes covered included:
excavation methods
fire life safety and ventilation
training programs
geology, geotechnics and groundwater
ground support
segmental linings and waterproofing
major project case studies
materials testing and specification
planning ahead - concept to delivery
project risk and contracts
utility service tunnels
road and rail transportation and shafts
settlement prediction and mitigation
tunnel boring machine access to mines.
