Fifth Underground Operators' Conference 1992
The Fifth Underground Operators Conference was organised by the Central Victoria Branch of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Previous conferences have been held in Broken Hill Queenstown Kalgoorlie and Mount Isa.
The conference was scheduled to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the meeting of mine managers at Craigs Hotel Ballarat on 15 July 1892 when a decision was taken to form a professional association. This led to the establishment of The AusIMM in 1893.
