Fifth Large Open Pit Mining Conference
The papers included in the 5th Large Open Pit Proceedings cover various
aspects of open pit mining notably, mine design and planning, drilling and
blasting, excavation and loading, haulage, slope stability and geotechnical
issues. In line with the theme harnessing technology by managing data and
information', most of the papers at this conference addressed issues relating to
data and information management for decision-making and process planning. Some
of Australia's premier open pit operations are subjects of the papers included,
for example, the Superpit (Newmont/Barrick), Cadia Hill (Newcrest), Granny Smith
(Placer Dome), Marvel Loch (Sons of Gwalia), and White Haven Coal in NSW, to
name a few. The spectrum of topics covered provides readers and the surface
mining industry as a whole with a summary of the status of the industry and
pointers to future developments.
Topics covered include:
Drill and Blast
Excavate/Load/Haul
