Students (Under Grad) & Associate (Post Grad / New Professionals)

AusIMM Undergraduate Student membership is the first step in your career as a mineral resources professional.

Student membership provides you with exposure to the industry, valuable connections to other industry professionals and organisations along with the skills needed for success in the workforce. As with other membership grades, students must register online, activate an account and then follow the prompts to complete the application.

Student members (SAusIMM) do not pay annual fees, however, there is a one-off application fee of $16.50 AUD which the NZ Branch is committed to fund. To receive this reimbursement, simply send sending proof of payment and your bank details to ausimm@gmail.com.

To support a student member application, the following information will be required:

  • Proof of enrolment in first tertiary study

  • Expected study completion date

  • A copy of your Photo ID

The NZ Branch offers student benefits such as subsidised attendance to events, scholarships for undergraduate research and, on occasions, attendance at AusIMM events in NZ or Australia.

AusIMM Associate Membership is the next important step for a mineral resources professional.

Associate membership allows you to further develop your professional network at industry events, grow your technical knowledge, and broaden your experience within the mining industry. This membership grade is for:

  • Post graduate students

  • New professionals in the first five years of their career

  3. Complete the application form with necessary documents (Your resume, photo ID and enrolment confirmation (if required)) and agree to the Member Declaration.

  4. If you are doing full time post-graduate study, end the application process here and do not proceed to payment stage. 5. If you are NOT doing Full time study, complete the application process online (total annual fee of $224.40 AUD + one off when joining $55 AUD Application fee)

New Zealand Branch Chartered Professionals

The AusIMM Chartered Professional scheme is a system of accreditation aimed to clearly recognise the qualifications and experience of mining industry professionals and to enhance the employment and career prospects of AusIMM members. It also aims to provide optimum levels of protection for the community at large by offering high standards of professional integrity.

Historically, a list of AusIMM Chartered Professionals resident in New Zealand was held and maintained on this website and was updated annually by the NZ Branch Committee. This list will no longer be available here and new Consultants Directory has been developed on the central AusIMM website.

AusIMM is committed to evolve and innovate in this digital age, and in January 2021 announced a complete overhaul of the central website. This means all AusIMM Members need to re-create their online login and member profile which can be done using the following instructions How to Update Member Login and Profile.

A new, improved part of the website is the creation of a centralised Member Directory which recognises and improves visibility of our full membership, which is public facing. For privacy reasons, all members need to ‘opt in’ to this service on the new AusIMM Website, and the instructions on how to do so are contained in this link How to join our member directory to be recognised as an AusIMM member.

Within both the Consultants and the Member Directory, you can drill down your AusIMM Member search by Branch, Discipline and Member Grade. Additionally, within the Member Directory there is another tab ‘Consultancy’ where you can also drill down to find NZ CP’s. To find Chartered Professionals resident in New Zealand click on ‘Branch’ and select ‘New Zealand Branch’, then click on ‘Member Grade’ and select the options with ‘(CP)’ in their title.

If you need assistance, please email the NZ Branch Secretary at ausimmnz@gmail.com
